People of Deer - A drum making workshop, held by Dorrie Joy - 28 September 2025

We are so excited to share that we are hosting a medicine drum birthing ceremony with the incredible Dorrie Joy here in the ancient village of Chettle, North Dorset.

This is a rare opportunity to ceremonially birth your own drum, power object, guide and ally on your spiritual journey.

Dorrie Joy is a celebrated artist, a prolific traditional craftswoman and an internationally renowned drum maker.

We will be working with gorgeous earthy West Country red deer hides that have been lovingly and carefully gathered and tanned with integrity care and love.

They are warm, honey coloured skins with organic and individual markings. We are making traditional frame drums as unique soul vessels.

We will be working with 16" hand steamed and locally gathered ash frames with an antler handle. We will make a drum beater to go with the drum and an optional rattle.

It will be a connecting and nourishing day in ceremony with Dorrie, who brings 30 years of drum making experience.
